About River Worship Center

Habakkuk 2:2 – And the Lord answered me and said, “Write the vision and make it plain upon tablets that he may run that readeth it.”

Proverbs 29:18 – Where this is no vision the people perish.

We believe that the vision of a pastor and church must line up with the Word of God. In doing so it will automatically be in the Father’s will. It will take a spirit (attitude) of unity to ever take shape. The vision is something that must be caught, something of which you must take ownership. Jesus said in Matthew 12:25 that every kingdom divided against itself shall be brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand. All of our combined efforts will bring about the vision of River Worship Center. We must all strive to remember that there are not big I’s and little U’s in the Kingdom of God. We should work to become one body fitly joined together by what every joint (member) supplies as stated in Ephesians 4:16. How good it is for brethren to dwell together in unity as stated in Psalm 133:1.

If we take the Word of God as truth, and we do, then we should strive to put others first and ourselves last. Imagine what River Worship Center would be if we all served each other… if the love of God that has been shed abroad in our hearts was evident to all who entered as stated in Romans 5:5… if everyone strived for peace and worked to love their neighbor as themselves… if we lived-out scriptures like I Peter 4:8 which says “Love covers a multitude of sin”, and Romans 5:20, “Where sin abounds grace does abound more”. This is the church that we want to be and a church where others want to attend.

We believe the effective church will strive to be whole in these three areas: Evangelism, Discipleship, and Worship, all of which are centered on the Word of God, empowered by the Holy Spirit, covered in prayer, and bringing glory to Jesus the risen Savior.

Evangelism

Evangelism is reaching a lost and dying world, community, neighbor or friend with the Good News of what God has provided through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. It is sharing Chris in you, the hope of glory. An evangelistic church will have a concern and be motivated by compassion (love in action) to reach the lost. We will have a heart for missions both locally and abroad (Matthew 28:18)

Discipleship

Scriptural discipleship is the equipping, maturing and edifying of the saints. To equip (perfect) is literally a recovered wholeness as when a broken limb is mended. To edify is to strengthen internally. To mature is to cause to become stable and develop integrity. All of these are developed by teaching, preaching, and studying the whole Word of God as truth. That will cultivate each member’s particular gifts for the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:11-16)

Worship

True worship or worship in Spirit and Truth as Jesus said comes only from a true heart. A true heart is one with complete sincerity of purpose. Complete sincerity must be based on the realization of the assurance of the justifying power of the blood of Jesus and the sanctifying power of the Word of God.

These three elements, Evangelism, Discipleship, and Worship will make us an effective and fruit bearing church that will be healthy and grow. All three elements can be applied to all age groups, children, teens, and adults. Each age group will require different methods and needs to be administered age appropriately. When all three elements, Evangelism, Discipleship, and Worship are carried out Biblically, the rest will be evident in spiritually healthy children, teens, and adults. This in turn will give us a spiritually healthy church producing fruit. Although the methods, style or approach that we have chosen, such as contemporary music and words shown on a screen, might be different, the results should not be. All we do should be based on the Word, covered in prayer, anointed by the Spirit, and point toward Jesus. If we, as the church and as individuals, maintain these four principles we will succeed. Is it based on the Word? Did we cover it in prayer? Are we depending on the anointing of the Spirit? Does it bring glory and honor to Jesus? If the answer is “Yes” to all of the above, we will succeed.

We must remember God first ordained the family, then the church. A successful ministry and personal relationship with the Lord does not have to come at the expense of your spouse of children. All church activities should promote healthy family relationships, husband and wife, parent and child.
